The Terrace
A seasonal outdoor space overlooking Elliott Bay, the Olympic Mountains, and the Pike Place Market rooftops. The terrace is available as a standalone venue for cocktail receptions and welcome drinks, or as an extension of the dining room for larger events. Open seasonally from late spring through early fall, it's one of the most memorable outdoor event settings in Seattle.

The Dining Room & Bar
Our dining room and bar form one elegant, connected space with panoramic views of Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains. With white tablecloths, warm lighting, and floor-to-ceiling windows that catch the golden hour, it's an ideal setting for seated dinners of 20 to 50 guests or cocktail receptions of up to 100. The space can be configured for plated multi-course meals, family-style service, or standing receptions — all with exclusive use of the full room.

A Seattle Institution Since 1901
Over Four Decades at Pike Place Market
Place Pigalle sits atop the former Cliff House Hotel, built circa 1901 as Seattle's population surged during the Klondike Gold Rush. Originally called the Lotus Inn, it served as both a speakeasy during Prohibition and a neighborhood tavern for decades afterward.
The building's history took a colorful turn during World War II when the infamous Nellie Curtis purchased the hotel, remodeled it, and renamed it the LaSalle Hotel, transforming it into the largest brothel in town. The neighboring Lotus Inn stayed busy throughout those years.
By 1951, new owners restored the building to legitimacy. Dorothy Horne purchased the tavern and renamed it Place Pigalle Tavern. Through the 1950s and '60s, the Market itself nearly disappeared, threatened by a proposed redevelopment called Pike Plaza that would have replaced it with apartments, offices, and a hockey arena.
From Tavern to Fine Dining
In 1971, the Market was saved. Gary Ward purchased Place Pigalle and turned it into one of Seattle's premier blues and jazz venues. After a renovation in 1977, he reopened it as a restaurant focused on fresh Market ingredients.
In 1982, bartender Bill Frank took over and transformed Place Pigalle into a fine dining destination. He upgraded the kitchen, introduced white linens and flowers, and built a menu of seasonal creations sourced directly from Pike Place Market. For twenty-five years, his vision helped shape Northwest cuisine and earned Place Pigalle a devoted following.

The Walker Family Era
In 2007, Bill Frank retired, passing the restaurant to the Walker family. Today, they honor that legacy while building on it, keeping beloved classics like Mussels Pigalle and Calamari Dijonnaise alongside seasonal dishes made from the freshest ingredients the Market has to offer.
